Inspired by utility shirts worn by the U.S. Army during the 1960s, this classic orSlow model faithfully recreates the functional design and distinctive fabric character of vintage military workwear from that era.
The fabric is orSlow's original reverse sateen, woven using specially developed slub yarns created from the yarn stage through careful study of authentic 1960s U.S. Army clothing.
Reverse sateen is a distinctive fabric construction in which the reverse side of the sateen weave is used as the face of the fabric, creating a unique texture and subtle weave pattern. Known for its durability and practicality, this type of fabric was widely used in U.S. Army utility clothing during the 1960s.
To recreate the distinctive character of vintage military reverse sateen, orSlow paid particular attention to the thickness and irregularity of the yarns, as well as the weave construction, carefully developing an original fabric that captures the authentic texture and appearance of the period.
With repeated wear and washing, the fabric gradually softens and develops distinctive horizontal fading and irregular variations in color. This unique aging process creates a rich, naturally worn appearance reminiscent of authentic 1960s vintage military clothing.
The design draws inspiration from the simple, functional details of traditional U.S. Army utility shirts, thoughtfully adapted for comfortable everyday wear.
Versatile enough to be worn as a light outer layer during spring and autumn or as an inner layer beneath jackets and coats in winter, this shirt is a practical wardrobe staple throughout the year.
