Inspired by vintage American coveralls produced during World War II in the 1940s, this jacket recreates the simplified design, construction details, and distinctive fabric character of wartime workwear.

During World War II, materials such as steel and other resources were prioritized for military production in the United States. As a result, workwear manufacturers were encouraged to conserve materials and simplify garment construction. Details such as buttons, pockets, and stitching were often reduced to the essentials, allowing garments to be produced more efficiently with limited resources.

These restrictions gave wartime workwear a distinctive character. By eliminating unnecessary details, the garments developed a simple, functional beauty that remains appealing today.

Inspired by the practical construction and understated appearance of vintage coveralls from the 1940s, orSlow carefully recreated the minimalist character of the original design while refining the proportions for comfortable everyday wear.

The fabric is orSlow's original 8oz denim, carefully developed through the study of authentic vintage denim from the 1940s.

Special attention was given to yarn thickness, natural irregularities, and weave construction to reproduce the distinctive texture and appearance of denim from that period.

Woven in Japan, the fabric features a naturally uneven surface with a slightly rough hand feel, rich color, and the rustic character associated with vintage American workwear.

Carefully manufactured in Japan by skilled craftsmen, from sewing to final finishing, the jacket reflects a high level of attention to detail beneath its seemingly simple design.

The silhouette features a relaxed fit inspired by the practical proportions of traditional workwear, offering a comfortable and versatile shape that works naturally with a wide range of everyday styles.

With repeated wear and washing, the denim gradually softens and develops natural fading and distinctive wear patterns. Over time, the jacket takes on the rich character of well-worn vintage denim, becoming more comfortable and personal with every wear.
